In our society today girls feel that they need to be skinny in order to find love.  Fact is, your true love is gonna love you no matter what.  If he cares about the size of your thighs more then the size of your heart…drop him my darlings as no man should make you feel bad about your size if he truly loves you <3

I still have hope :’3!!
even though I still need to lose like 10 pounds :(

“BURKINI SURF PROJECT” BY KATE SIKORSKI

As an undergraduate student and surfer preparing to study abroad in South Africa, Kate Sikorski took inspiration from a “Geography of Surfing” class in combination with her global studies major when she learned about female Muslim surfers in Madagascar.  As she began to explore and think about surf attire options for Muslim women who are interested in surfing in the colder waters of California, the seedlings for her “Burkini Surf Project” formed.

After starting a free surf camp during her time studying in South Africa, Sikorski brought the idea home with her and began teaching free or publicly-funded surf classes to teach local Southern California Muslim women wearing specially made waterproof hijab how to surf.  During this time, she also collected an array of images and sketches on which to base her mixed media art pieces and subsequent solo show.
